WakeEd

The WakeEd blog is devoted to discussing and answering questions about the major issues facing the Wake County school system. How much will the new Democratic majority on the school board do to undo the changes made by Republicans since 2009? How will the new choice-based assignment system work now that the socioeconomic diversity policy has been eliminated? How will Superintendent Tony Tata lead the state's largest district through more budget cuts and possible layoffs? How will the board respond to growth and the school construction program?

WakeEd is maintained by The News & Observer's Wake schools reporter, T. Keung Hui. While Keung posts information and analysis on the issues, keep us posted on your suggestions, questions, tips and what you're doing to cope with the changes in Wake's schools.

WSCA files pre-election campaign finance report

The Wake Schools Community Alliance has raised more than $20,000 so far in its bid to elect school board candidates who are critics of the current diversity policy.

The latest report from the group shows that it has raised $24,034.44 and had $10,740.06 left over as of Sept. 21. That money could be useful in the final weeks of the campaign and in any runoffs.

The list of individual donors includes more than a few people who were in the area reassigned from Lacy Elementary School this year.

The WSCA has given more than $2,000 each to school board candidates Chris Malone, John Tedesco and Debra Goldman.

They gave money to 3

They gave money to 3 candidates but not all 4? It is obvious that D Prickett is the only qualified candidate in her race. However she is competing against the power of money so the clueless candidate's puppeteers might be able to buy enough votes to put their puppet into office. What a crime that would be.

Didn't know where to put this

Carlene Lucas interview with the Garner Citizen. Maybe it should have its own blog posting.

It was on the backlog of things to get to. I've got at least six different things I'll get around to blogging about, not counting new stuff that crops up.

Typo's ... Too Funny.

Our focus has dropped to typo's... really?

The bottom line here should be simple... What is best for the children? the status quo... does not appear to be working... like it or not, the history of success does not exhist. This drops Tart from the options in Dist 2... and anyone who is for the OLD way from the other races.... Then it moves to who has a plan to move forward... although you may not like all that the candidates stand for... mand of the ideas of the candidates supported by the GOP and others show a sense of unity and desire to move forward for the children. I know where my vote will go... because I need these candidates in place to help me make Garner a better School District for my families. Without them... we fail.

...

Whew! Perry will be able to sleep tonight. :>)

Deborah Prickett - "EDUACATIONAL CONSULTANT"

broken windows, blackened pot, meet, well — calumnibot!

Hey! The subject rhymes!

Oh the irony of calumnibot spell-checking.

That's big of you, ol' buddy, to point that out — those lidless eyes do not miss a thing, well, except for your own writing.

???

first if all;  what?

second; if you are referring to a typo, should we go back to ALL your posts and find them?  what about sentences that make no sense, words left out, run-on and on and on...

c'mon be serious for a moment....just once...with all that is at stake, THIS is what you can come up with?  puhlease....

Just thought they may want

Just thought they may want to correct it before the next round ... btw, my posts are not official documents representing thousands of people like this one ... which is why they may want to fix it next time around ..
