It looks like the Wake County school system will soon be losing one of its top administrators.
The Baltimore Sun is reporting today that Kevin Hobbs, Wake's central area superintendent, is expected to be named deputy superintendent for Baltimore County schools. Hobbs was hired by Wake in December.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the school board there deadlocked 6-6 on Tuesday on hiring Hobbs because of a certification issue. But the newspaper quotes school board members who say they'll hire Hobbs after he completes a certification course July 1.
Hobbs taught at Garner High School but spent much of his career in Maryland in the Montgomery County school system. He'll get a bump in pay from his $120,000 Wake salary to $185,000 in Baltimore.

Keung,
Any insight?
I think the "insight" is
Thu, 06/14/2012 - 16:51 — danofncI think the "insight" is that he worked in Maryland for a long time, and he got a call to come back for a 50% bump in pay from what he makes in Wake County.

Do you have a point or are you just tired of arguing with shearer?
The point was that if you
Fri, 06/15/2012 - 14:41 — danofncThe point was that if you just look at what was happening, there was no need to sniff around to see if there was some "bigger, deeper" issue.....the way you do with just about everything.
He (apparently) left Maryland for a "challenge" in Houston (and probably more money).
He decided he'd been "challenged" enough in Houston, and took a job in Wake County where he had some history (and he got back to the east coast, and he probably got another raise).
Then, he got a job offer from either his old employer or one near it and he jumped on the chance to get back to the place where he has spent most of his career......and get a $65,000 raise.
There's no reason to look for a conspiracy when the simplest explanation is also the most logical.

Fri, 06/15/2012 - 16:10 — SideburnsThere is no reason -- unless I know more about it than you think I do.
well, here's a point

Do you have a point . . . ?
Sidehouse, you often come across as snippy and arrogant and just seem generally angry with life. I often wonder how your family experiences you? Hopefully, you vent all your nasties on this forum so you can be more pleasant with them. Hopefully.

I really haven't dealt with
Thu, 06/14/2012 - 17:00 — KeungHui (author)I really haven't dealt with Hobbs much since he started here. Objectively, it's a career advancer. He moves into the no. 2 slot in a fairly large district near where he spent much of his career and gets a 50 percent pay raise at the same time.
Exactly... it's a no-brainer.

And another one bites the dust....
