WakeEd

The WakeEd blog is devoted to discussing and answering questions about the major issues facing the Wake County school system. How much will the new Democratic majority on the school board do to undo the changes made by Republicans since 2009? Will the new student assignment plan be a hybrid of the last two models or primarily be a return to the use of busing for diversity? Who will replace Tony Tata as the new superintendent of the state's largest district? How will voters react to a likely request in 2013 to borrow potentially more than $1 billion to build and renovate schools?

WakeEd is maintained by The News & Observer's Wake schools reporter, T. Keung Hui. While Keung posts information and analysis on the issues, keep us posted on your suggestions, questions, tips and what you're doing to cope with the changes in Wake's schools.

Truitt spent most of campaign money

Bookmark and Share

School board candidate Cathy Truitt burned through a good chunk of her campaign money before the runoff.

This campaign report Truitt filed today showed that she had $621.39 left as of Oct. 19. She's spent most of the $19,425.31 she's raised so far.

Truitt continued to get most of her contributions from members of Greater Garner Advocates.

Candidates and PACs who've spent money as part of next week's still scheduled District 2 runoff have to have reports postmarked by today. No reports were in this morning for John Tedesco or any of the PACs.

Candidates in races without a runoff don't have to file until the end of the  year.

she should get an award.

She did the "most damage per dollar" than any other local candidate, ever.
If you could bottle this and sell it to the millitary, you'd be rich.

Hear, Hear

Word is that the State Board of Elections won't take the matter up until the end of the week - if then. Do I detect a fix?

Anyway, it looks like we need to keep the campaign on to make sure John Tedesco is elected. At this point, it's only a week to go anyway. We might as well just keep on moving.

I'd like to see Cathy try to clean up the mess she's made and urge folks to vote for Tedesco like she indicated she would.

She should give the $621.39

She should give the $621.39 to John.

Not to mention

an apology.

How about the runoff expense?

I think she owes him something more like 10 GRAND+ and then the county somewhere around 30 GRAND!  Money that would not have needed to be spent had she made the decision on October 7th that she "supposedly" made last week!

As she stated last Tuesday, she doesn't want to tell how much money she can command from her consulting business "per day", so since she's raking it in, the 40 GRAND shouldn't be a surprise when she gets the bills!
