WakeEd

The WakeEd blog is devoted to discussing and answering questions about the major issues facing the Wake County school system. How will the new student assignment plan balance diversity, stability, proximity and stability? How will Jim Merrill replace Tony Tata as the new superintendent of the state's largest district? How will voters react to a $810 million school construction bond referendum on Oct. 8 ballot? How will this fall's school board elections impact the future of the district?

WakeEd is maintained by The News & Observer's Wake schools reporter, T. Keung Hui. While Keung posts information and analysis on the issues, keep us posted on your suggestions, questions, tips and what you're doing to cope with the changes in Wake's schools.

Candidates from all four races have been invited to attend the forum sponsored by the Wake County PTA Council, the League of Women Voters of Wake County, the Junior League of Raleigh, the YWCA of the Greater Triangle and El Pueblo.

The forum will run from 7-9 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2723 Clark Avenue in Raleigh.

UPDATE

WPTF, 680 AM, plans to broadcast the forum live. You should also be able to listen on the station's web site.

Can you spell grassroots?  We are a group of parents donating money out of the grocery budget, asking neighbors one by one to put signs in their yards, handing out flyers...  who is getting paid here?

Deborah Prickett is a great choice

and liked her responses.

I wasn't paid to say that but can I get a check anyway?

I'd like it to donate it to a textbook and paper fund - I hear the schools could use some :-)

I am? Is the check in the

I am? Is the check in the mail?

I seem to keep asking you this: What are you talking about?

WPTF doesn't need to be broadcasting anything

as important as this.  Between Martinez flapping her gums over top of the questions and answers, the cut outs for for commercials and the TERRIBLE audio it was hard to tell if it was the Bulls game or a truck pull!

Doesn't the staff of

Doesn't the staff of WPTF include professional audio engineers? Did they all take the day off? It was amatuer hour in terms of sound quality.
