We've got new principals tonight for the East Wake School of Integrated Technology, West Lake Middle School and Lake Myra Elementary.
Jamee O. Lynch will now run the East Wake School of Integrated Technology in Wendell, replacing the departing Kristin Cuilla. It's one of four small schools on the East Wake High campus.
Lynch has been principal of Sanford Creek Elementary in Rolesville since 2007. Before then, she was Wake's principal of the year when she was at Hodge Road Elementary in Knightdale.
James Argent will lead the new Lake Myra Elementary in Knightdale/Wendell. He's been principal of Swift Creek Elementary since 2005.
Craig Harris will become the new principal of West Lake Middle School in Apex. Harris is now principal of Toisnot Middle School in Wilson County.
Since Harris can't start immediately, Anne Deegan will remain the interim principal of West Lake until Feb. 27. The job has been open since Greg Decker left to become principal of Sanderson High School.

Thu, 02/05/2009 - 10:30 — JSCDaniels has more electives? Not from what I've seen. Daniels has what I consider a bare-bones list of electives: chorus, orchestra, theater, art, spanish and some "career decisions" classes, but that's it. And that's probably no different from what you'll find at Carroll, Durant Rd, West Millbrook or any other suburban middle schools. If you want to see an impressive list of electives, think Martin Middle. But Daniels? No.

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 20:55 — melissazonoraWhen I stumbled on this article I could not believe that Wake County would accept this very challenging person. This principal has left some disgruntled parents throughout his rein. I try not to say bad things about people but I just had to comment on this. I believe that Wake County should try their best to hire principals that are not driven by power and titles. We all have our own agendas to climb the ladder, but children deserve a person with a heart and someone who shows respect to others.
I must say that I have encountered many good, caring principals in Wilson County. Principals that are not downright mean and out to intentionally harm others. others. Truly good people. Wake County, I wish you all the best.

Fri, 02/06/2009 - 19:10 — melissazonoraLet's just say, maybe Wake County invested money into sensitivity training for this power driven principal before they hired him. I have spoken to several others in Wilson and they are throwing a party. Too late though for those that have been ran over or crossed paths with this individual.

Judging by your attitude on this blog, no telling what your daughter hears and feels at home regarding WCPSS
So...your child started off
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 21:08 — shank56So...your child started off at Daniels and she didn't like it. If I recall , she is a magnet student from Cary area?
You were floored and horrified at the dynamics at lunchtime and at the maliciousness of the kids. How so?
Just curious, because Jenman says schools ITB (specifically Daniels ) are basking in a relative low rate of F&R students and a greater multitude of course offerings- which makes it far superior to the schools in her area, and I assume your area too.
My daughter is now in 3rd
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 22:19 — vsheehanMy daughter is now in 3rd grade.
She was in K in a school that had its own above 20% F&R kids. I purposely picked a mixed income neighborhood, I like it that way . The BOE was busing in two badly scoring F&R nodes from Raleigh, bringing our school's F&R to over 35%. The bigger problem is the BOE doesn't bus out the kids doing well they bus out the kids who have the worse scores. Plus the kids behaved in a way well just mean and proud of being mean. Plus their behaviors wer behaviors you would expect from an out of control teenager not a K. I had worked with kids for years in at-risk kid programs and in for profit schools but I had never seen such behavior from children so young. We had left a school in VA with diversity in ethnicty and economics but none of the kids act that way.
Daniels does have more electives. The suburbs are punished to force them to go to the Magnets. Of course families in schools with high F&R that are diverse don't have a shot at the magnets as the BOE only wants kids from families with cash.
hope the new principal at
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 04:26 — vsheehanhope the new principal at the integrated technology school does a better job. The test scores were abysmal last year. I was completely jealous when I heard WCPSS would get one of these types of HS and that we would not be able to go to it. The program started in Seattle and had excellent results. The program helped Seattle’s public schools excel to the point there are no private schools in Seattle. NYC then adopted the program and also had excellent results. So I know it’s not the program’s fault for the bad grades.
Good luck to all the new principals but especially to Lynch
