Wake County school board chairman Ron Margiotta is promoting a new campaign website that includes statements from supporters.
In a press release today, Margiotta's campaign said the new www.isupportron.com site was created "in reaction to the strong support he has received from citizens throughout Wake County." You can send an email to ronmargiotta@gmail.com if you want to submit your own statement in support.
The website includes written and video statements from a variety of people, including several elected officials. For instance, state Sen. Neal Hunt says he supports Margiotta in his District 8 run because "we need education, not diversity."
"I am absolutely supportive of Ron for school board and chairman of the school board," Hunt said. "Ron is for educating our children as opposed to making sure we have diversity. We need education, not diversity."
"I support Ron Margiotta because he's done a great job with the school system," said Paul Coble, chairman of the Wake County Board of Commissioners. "When I need to get something done with the Wake County school board, I know I can go to Ron and get his help."
"Ron Margiotta has made the most positive, game-changing impact of any local Wake County public servant over the last few years," said Wake County Commissioner Joe Bryan.
"I support Ron Margiotta because of his continued focus to bring the schools back to the family," said school board member Deborah Prickett. "He is strong, passionate and committed. He's the leader we need to continue with the important changes that we're putting into action."

Fri, 09/02/2011 - 07:49 — bpuli9999(Hari Nath) testimonial on Ron's is a good representation of his supporters. Vague and pointless. I guess another one of those lost non-white republicans - supporting a party that is not going to do anything for them. I wonder why this guy turned republican - guns, gays or god?
YOU ARE A RACIST !- in the true meaning of the word BPulli
Fri, 09/02/2011 - 09:28 — Voice_of_Reason_Imagine a non-white having a different point of view, doesn't he understand he needs to come in line; life in the plantation is good. ....Isn't that in essence what you just said Bpulli?
Maybe, just maybe, the guy can have his own opinion. I don't know the color of your skin BPulli, but your character speaks out loud and clear. Who says most racists are Republicans?

Yes Woodstock,
Fri, 09/02/2011 - 18:50 — paulastam....you also aptly described the very same reasons why some may choose to become Democrats or remain independents...

Fri, 09/02/2011 - 08:19 — DrActualFactualThe intolerance of your post is a good representation of the conflict you must experience when fighting FOR diversity. It is hard to bash so many different groups in such a short sentence. I hope someone slams a "coexist" bumper sticker on your car--it would be ironic karma would it not?
Have you been...
Fri, 09/02/2011 - 13:13 — bpuli9999following me? I actually do have one of those stickers.
And actually, I was bashing just the republicans. I like the way you twist things around to support your belief system. And from your last sentence seems like you believe in a lot of things.

Diversity IS a leading driver in our community and global society.
If one is hoping to become a leader, then one must embrace diversity in our community.
Fear of diversity is what keeps societies from moving forward.

Fri, 09/02/2011 - 06:41 — SideburnsThere is no fear of diversity in the way you discuss. I agree that we all must embrace diversity and I believe most of us do. But we cannot continue to use the poor and/or minority children as pawns in the system to make people like you feel better.
Evans said at a forum the other day that she wants socio-economic diversity in our schools, she wants "balanced" schools. That is the diversity that Wake County parents are sick and tired of -- the kind that pushes everyone around and around in reassignment circles, hoping we are keeping up appearances.
Neal Hunt is right. We need education to remain at the forefront.
Thanks for watching the videos. :)
Isn't it funny
Sat, 09/03/2011 - 17:19 — Voice_of_Reason_The people who preach the benefits of diversity the most are the same one who like to put everyone in their separate little group.... Afro, Native, Hispanic, Asian, Muslim "-American". And of course rich vs. poor & undocumented. [ At least they don't break up the Italian, Irish, British, German, Franco, Scandinavian, Polish, etc..... down anymore since they seem to already melted into just plain Americans.] The strengths of diversity come when we can share the best all of the various cultures that people bring to this melting pot we call the United States of America with a goal to assimilate to a united culture we call American. Diversity for diversity's sake is not a strength. Otherwise we might as well split off into our own separate little "tribes" and watch this country explode into anarchy. America is unique in the world, a grand experiment of diversity. Personally to me, I would be insulted if you called me anything but American.
But we can certainly can use....

Fri, 09/02/2011 - 14:19 — woodstockDude, you need to get out more. It sounds like you haven't visited a suburban neighborhood since the 1950s. Your comments are foolish.
Woodstock, take your own advice my friend...
Fri, 09/02/2011 - 18:54 — paulastamYou lurk in this forum 24/7 and misrepresent or straight-out bully all that you disagree with (that would be anyone that does not love the GOP running our school board or the nation's Tea Party). So it's ironic that you're posting in here that others need to get a life or get a grip on reality....

Thu, 09/01/2011 - 13:22 — bpuli9999has put into a very concise sentence exactly what everyone has been saying about RM - that he does not want diversity. That sentence obviously reflects upon his intelligence also.
That is what Ron has been trying to do for the past few years. Hopefully he does not succeed. But then again we talking about Apex voters here - what else can one expect?

Fri, 09/02/2011 - 19:01 — paulastamI would describe myself as a public school supporter rather than any type of "basher". However, there is no shortage of public school bashers in this forum and the irony is many of them at different times have claimed to be "moderates" or "Democrats". In fact I fear the day that an actual GOP supporter posts in this forum since all the public school bashers typically claim (pretend) they are moderates or liberals!!
