The Coalition of Concerned Citizens of African American Children, the local NAACP and the YWCA of the Greater Triangle are demanding that the Wake County school system "provide accurate information as it relates to student performance and achievement that impact our present diversity policy."
In a press release Sunday, the groups say "they have requested a formal presentation by the Wake County Public Schools System to interpret recently completed research on student performance as it relates to diversity." The groups are trying to save the diversity policy.
In the meantime, the groups are holding a public forum Tuesday on Wake student achievement from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Martin Street Baptist Church's Johnson Building, 1001 E. Martin street in Raleigh. This meeting is taking place the same time as the community engagement meeting on school calendars at Leesville Road High School.
