I can tell you that eight people have applied for the District 1 vacancy on the Wake County school board, but that's about all I can say for most of them.
Six last-minute applications came in this afternoon to beat the 5 p.m. filing deadline. The problem is administrators say they can't reach the person who received the applications to say who they are from.
Administrators say they expect to have the names of the final six applicants by Monday.
In the meantime, the only ones we know for sure are retired principal Tom Benton and former upstate New York school board member Wendy Ford.
The school board will discuss during Tuesday's work session the process for filling the vacancy.
One of the questions that board members will face is whether to interview all eight applicants or just some of them. School board chairman Keith Sutton says he wants the replacement for Chris Malone to be appointed by the end of the month.
UPDATE
As of 4 p.m. Monday, Wake has not provided the names or applications of the people who filed Friday.

Sat, 01/05/2013 - 11:28 — woodstockVery strange. It is almost like it was orchestrated... but I am sure that is just my paranoia. Just as strange is that there is not a single person at WCPSS who can tell us who they are.
Transparency, shamparency.... who needs it?
Guess they kept you in the dark on this one

Doubt it.
On another topic, tell the big guy, in the big stuffed vest, with the big fake ear rang, the public isn't interested in supporting his "need of greater than a billion" or anywhere near it.
Same goes for Joe.
They are screwed with the public and there is NOTHING they can do, other than quit, all of them, that will fix that problem!
I didn't know JT had a "need
