Deborah Prickett is stressing her experiences as a parent who has gone through reassignment in her new school board campaign mailer.
District 7 has fast-growing parts of northwest Raleigh, western Cary and Morrisville where reassignment may be more of an issue than in other areas. Whether Prickett's heart-to-heart helps remains to be seen.
"As a parent who has personally experienced the sacrifice and stress of an unstable school environment and constant reassignment for so called 'healthy schools' sake, I feel that change in the current Board of Education's vision is critical," Prickett says in the mailer. "Healthy students should be our focus."
Most recently, Prickett's Brier Creek neighborhood was reassigned from Panther Creek High to Broughton High for 2010.
Prickett's mailer touts her support for neighborhood schools, choice in calendar options and stable school assignments.
