WakeEd

The WakeEd blog is devoted to discussing and answering questions about the major issues facing the Wake County school system. How much will the new Democratic majority on the school board do to undo the changes made by Republicans since 2009? How will the new choice-based assignment system work now that the socioeconomic diversity policy has been eliminated? How will Superintendent Tony Tata lead the state's largest district through more budget cuts and possible layoffs? How will the board respond to growth and the school construction program?

WakeEd is maintained by The News & Observer's Wake schools reporter, T. Keung Hui. While Keung posts information and analysis on the issues, keep us posted on your suggestions, questions, tips and what you're doing to cope with the changes in Wake's schools.

Cash Michaels on "the two faces" of Anthony Tata

Bookmark and Share

Cash Michaels takes on new Wake County Superintendent Anthony Tata during his "Make It Happen" show at 4 p.m. today on Power 750 WAUG-AM.

Michaels, chief editor of The Carolinian and an advocate of the old diversity policy, is calling today's show "The Two (or more) faces of Wake Supt. Anthony Tata." Michaels says he'll show how Tata told different stories in the white and black communities about neighborhood schools and the value of diversity during his three-day tour last week.

School board members Keith Sutton and Dr. Anne McLaurin will be among the guests in pre-recorded interviews.

For instance, Michaels says Tata talked about neighborhood schools at Friday's press conference but talked about how much he supports diversity in his Saturday meeting with African American leaders.

As noted in Sunday's article by Jay Price, Tata told the crowd that he supports diversity, to a point.

TOO MUCH?

Sounds like Mr. Michaels was more than you could handle. Perhaps the new school board will have better luck.....not!

Cash Michaels looks for

Cash Michaels looks for every opportunity to "take someone down." When I was with Assignment By Choice, he absolutely destroyed one of our officers over the course of three separate issues of The Carolinian.

Combine Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and William Barber, and you get Cash Michaels.
