CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina will be without starting right tackle Brennan Williams for the rest of the season.
Williams, a senior who started every game this season and 22 games during his time at UNC, underwent season-ending surgery on Thursday. He had been experiencing problems with his shoulder, but had managed to play through those issues until deciding on surgery.
The Tar Heels host N.C. State on Saturday. Travis Bond, who has been starting at right guard, could move to the outside of the line to replace Williams in the starting lineup. If Bond moves to the outside, Peyton Jenest, the backup center, could move to guard.
