I don't know about that ...
Tue, 09/11/2012 - 10:40 — Andrew_Carter (author)I don't know about that ... Let's go in order:
Long Beach State should offer a good challenge. That's become a solid year-in, year-out NCAA tournament program. The field in Maui is strong, as usual. UNC will play at Indiana, which should be the preseason No. 1 team in the nation. Also goes on the road to play Texas, which should be better than last year. UNLV, of course, beat UNC a season ago.
All in all, it's a good non-conference schedule. Not the most difficult, but certainly not a cakewalk, either.

Mon, 09/10/2012 - 16:07 — proctorThis is a great Carolina schedule, including a nifty matchup with East Tennessee State from just across the line up there in the mountains.
And are some reasons why I have the right to be a Roy Williams fan from start to finish this year even though I attended a certain nearby ACC school in the Bull City of Durham:
1. I spent one summer of youth at a summer enrichment program at Western Carolina in Cullowhee in Western North Carolina.
2. I spent two summers at the Brevard Music Center in Western North Carolina.
3. I once had a promising job interview for a copy desk job at The Asheville Citizen, but I missed out on moving to Asheville because I also received an offer to write editorials for The Fayetteville Observer, and I always wanted to be an editorial writer because you get to make your living poking around with what everybody else is trying to accomplish.
4. I once took a hike from Manteo to Murphy, with the last leg covering from Mt. Airy to Murphy through Western North Carolina.
5. Roy knows Asheville and WNC.
6. My Duke friends are probably getting sick of hearing me pining away for the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains and most likely will gladly "trade me away" to the Tar Heels for at least a year if not more!
So all those fun-loving, mischievous Dukies, especially the English majors, will simply have to understand: You can go home again, if you just remember the words to that famous train song: "Pardon me Roy, is that the Chattanooga Choo-Choo?"
