CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina is ranked No. 8 in the latest Directors’ Cup standings, which were released on Thursday. The Directors’ Cup measures the overall excellence of NCAA Division I collegiate athletic programs.
The Tar Heels are the second-highest ACC team in the rankings, behind Florida State, which is No. 4. Stanford is ranked No. 1, followed by Ohio State and Penn State. Three more Big Ten schools – Wisconsin (No. 7), Minnesota (No. 9) and Michigan (No. 10) are included among the top 10 teams in the rankings.
Behind Florida State and UNC, here are where the rest of the ACC’s teams rank in the Directors’ Cup standings:
No. 13 – Duke
No. 22 – Virginia
No. 26 – Virginia Tech
No. 27 – Maryland
No. 33 – Boston College
No. 47 – N.C. State
No. 57 – Miami
No. 65 – Clemson
No. 76 – Wake Forest
No. 128 – Georgia Tech
The final rankings will be determined in the summer, after the spring sports season ends.
