CHAPEL HILL — The lead up to a college football season means a lot of things. Preseason magazines. Preseason polls. And, of course, preseason award watch lists. North Carolina has four players on watch lists that came out today.
Tar Heels linebacker Kevin Reddick has been named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. And North Carolina offensive guard Jonathan Cooper, offensive tackle James Hurst and defensive tackle Sylvester Williams are all on the watch list for the Outland Trophy.
The Nagurski Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s best overall defensive player, as voted on by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). The Outland Trophy, meanwhile, goes to the best interior lineman in college football, as voted on by the FWAA.
