UNC forward John Henson out against Vermont

Bookmark and Share

GREENSBORO — North Carolina junior forward John Henson will not play today when the Tar Heels face Vermont in the second round of the NCAA tournament here at the Greensboro Coliseum. It will be the third consecutive game that Henson misses because of a left wrist injury.

James Michael McAdoo, the freshman forward, will start in Henson’s place. McAdoo also started UNC’s final two games of the NCAA tournament, when Henson sat out with his wrist injury.

Henson suffered the injury during the Tar Heels’ victory against Maryland last week in the ACC tournament quarterfinals. He missed UNC’s next two games, though he remained dressed in uniform for the Heels’ 85-82 defeat against Florida State in the ACC tournament championship.

McAdoo has averaged 28 minutes of playing time per game in each of UNC’s past three games. He averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds per game during that stretch.
