UNC forward Harrison Barnes has sprained ankle, tests reveal

Bookmark and Share

CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina sophomore forward Harrison Barnes underwent tests on Wednesday that confirmed he suffered a sprained left ankle during the Tar Heels’ 68-53 victory at Wake Forest on Tuesday night.

Barnes said after the game he had “rolled” his ankle while running down the court. He left the game at one point during the first half and proceeded to the locker room, where a trainer re-taped his ankle.

Barnes returned to the game with a little more than one minute to play in the first half. He played most of the second half and 27 minutes overall before finishing the game with 13 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

No. 5 UNC did not practice on Wednesday. Barnes’ status for the Tar Heels’ practice on Thursday will be determined by how his ankle feels, a team spokesman wrote in an email.

Wow..

It's incredible that he continued to play on his sprained ankle - I wonder how bad it ended up being.. I'm sure they have him applying the right techniques and rehabbing it as much as possible - I wonder if he was able to practice Thursday or not - does anyone know?
