CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina will hold its spring football scrimmage tonight on campus in Kenan Stadium instead of in Greensboro. The scrimmage will begin at 5 p.m.

The Tar Heels had previously been scheduled to scrimmage tonight at Grimsley High in Greensboro, but rain has made the Grimsley High field unplayable.

“We certainly appreciate all the efforts Grimsley High School has made to try an accommodate our scrimmage, but after consulting with officials at the high school, we are all in agreement that it is best to hold the scrimmage in Chapel Hill,” UNC coach Larry Fedora said in a statement. “We have great fans in the Greensboro area and I’m disappointed we will not be able to practice there this evening. However, the last thing we would want to occur is for someone to get hurt because of the playing surface.”

Free parking is available on campus after 5 p.m., and in the Rams Head deck at any time today. The Tar Heels’ top-ranked baseball team is playing at home tonight at 7 p.m. against Maryland.
