UNC a No. 8 seed in NCAA tournament

Bookmark and Share

GREENSBORO — North Carolina coach Roy Williams could coach against his old team in the third round of the NCAA tournament. First, though, the Tar Heels will need to beat Villanova.

UNC is a No. 8 seed in the South Region of tournament, and will play on Friday in Kansas City against eighth-seeded Villanova. The winner would likely advance to play against Kansas, which is the top seed in the region.

Williams spent 15 seasons as Kansas' head coach.

The Tar Heels on Sunday suffered an 87-77 defeat against Miami in the ACC tournament championship game. Stay tuned for much more analysis and thoughts about UNC's tournament draw ...

Love it. Bring it on. UNC

Love it. Bring it on. UNC has the potential to surprise some folks. Same for the rest of the ACC teams in the tourney.

Not happy either

But am very excited with the possibility of playing KU in KC on Sunday afternoon. KU doesn't have a true PG and hopefully UNC can exploit that with some turnover and transition buckets. While a one seed, this KU team isn't like the other great teams they've had. I feel like UNC will make relatively easy work of 'Nova.

agree

But I think we will need two games like last Sunday.
Go Heels!

This team is as good now

As they've been all year long. The perfect time to peak for an imperfect team.

NCAA selection

How does Carolina keep getting screwed especially this year villinova? And then possibly kansas at Kansas city

No kidding

An 8th seed, and the same as NCSU (whose RPI is lower) who ended up in an "easier" bracket. Sure they beat dook, (without Kelly) as their best win. Perhaps it was based on preseason expectations?
