North Carolina celebrated another dramatic victory on Saturday after its 6-5 triumph against South Carolina. ROBERT WILLETT
CHAPEL HILL — Another game, another dramatic victory for North Carolina. The Tar Heels’ 6-5 victory against South Carolina earlier today puts UNC one victory away from a trip to Omaha and the College World Series.
The Heels won today in the bottom of the ninth inning with a two-out RBI single from Skye Bolt, the freshman right fielder. Bolt’s hit was good news for a couple of reasons. For one, obviously, it won UNC the game. Second, Bolt has been struggling a bit since returning from a broken foot, and this could be the kind of thing that gets him going.
Whether that’s the case remains to be seen. For now, the Heels have Omaha in their sights thanks to another dramatic victory. The one Saturday came after a 13-inning thriller against Florida Atlantic on Monday night (and Tuesday morning).
UNC and South Carolina will be back at Boshamer on Sunday at 1 p.m. See you there.
