I hope the rest of Your movie reviews are Better

As much as I love Stanley Kubrik and the Shining, how is it that this movie is just in time for the holidays and the new Will Smith movie is not? Now while commercials gave me absolutely no incentive to go see "Pounds" your very unprofessional review is going to put me in the seats to check it out myself.

Movie reviews and entertainment critique are "supposed" to be unbiased reviews from a knowledgeable unbiased film connoisseur that judges a film based upon its delivery to its audience within the genre intended. One does not judge a horror film based upon the stylings of an epic adventure film and so on. Yet you managed to not only be completely biased in your review and over all perspective, but you actually defied your job position, objective, and your duty to the movie goer by walking into that theatre with preconceived notions of the whole film from story to cast to directing before the theatre lights even went down.

I am not a Will Smith Fan, I am not a sappy feel good movie fan. But your review fell below reporting standards. You began your article with a negative theme. And while I am not a fan of, "dumbing down" any writers choice of diction you could have simply stated the film you were mentioning was earnest and "contrived" rather than, "...earnest and treacly". choosing to use a vernacular more a tuned to film goers than the avid reader of books without pictures. "Oh my grandpa, what big words you use." Really!

I highly suggest you pause for a moment of self reflection. Get off your "high horse" and become a fan again, not just of YOUR type of movie, but the art of all genres of cinema, and rid your self and your obvious biases... ( You said, "And call me sadistic, but I got a kick watching the Fresh Prince figuratively (whip) himself silly,...)( "I am amazed" you continued to write, "Muccino (the films director) actually used the talents of Dawson, who is given many moments to act and not just be the hot caramel-colored chick in another movie." ( Thanks for the tinted magnified view into your consciousness.) And in case you forgot, Will Smith began his NOT so A list cinematic career emasculating himself for "us" and his own fan base and Hip Hop community by playing a lying homosexual con artist in an independent film. So, if you can't help but think this entertainer is, "putting himself through all this drama to apologize..." for a recent film of his, why exactly do you hold this job as a film critic, come on dude, for real?

I challenge you to better your self, I dare you, I double dog dare you to rise above your embarrassingly obvious arrogance, your unreflected and skewed perspective, subtle and overtly unprofessional outlook, and give us reporting and reviews that delineate the values of literary reviews. While I am not a practitioner of this critical tone, your supposedly negative review is going to have me sending Will Smith my 10 plus bucks, maybe your a reverse psychologist, maybe that was your very intention.

Always the Best,
rOMAN
