Uncle Crizzle
Uncle Crizzle (originally Uncle Crizzle's Wide, Wild World of Pop; don't know when the name change happened) is a pop-culture blog I think some of you read. Whatever stuff that's happening in contemporary arts and entertainment that I find either great or goofy, I write a post and somebody out there gets a kick of it.
And now, for the first time ever, where the name "Uncle Crizzle" came from:
For some reason, when I started working here, I kept referring to myself as "Uncle Craig" in e-mails. During a dessert-filled, staff get-together, when somebody gave me one of those stick-on, blank name tags, I wrote "Crizzle." (Fans of "Chappelle's Show" may get the reference.) When N&O interactive came calling about doing a blog, I figured since no one is who they say they are online, why not call myself by another name. And that's when "Uncle Crizzle" was born.

A CRIZZLE'S CRITICAL CONDITION Where I Speak to Another Newspaper Film Critic (You See, I'm Not the Only One!)
On this installment of the Condition, I speak to Michael Sragow, film critic for the Baltimore Sun and a veteran of the film-reviewing frontlines. We discuss his days working for Rolling Stone (he drops a pitiful-but-hilarious story involving "E.T." that explains why that magazine is always the last to pick up on what people are talking about) as well as the work of the late filmmaker Victor Fleming, who is the subject of a recently-released autobiography Sragow has written. (BTW, all you Triangle residents can catch one of the movies he's famous for at the end of the month.) We end the podcast talking about the cinematic legacies of Budd Schulberg and John Hughes, who both passed away last week. You can also download it here.
