No, we're not talking about the show getting cancelled (though a lot of my guy friends would LOVE for that to happen). We're talking about The Ghost of Denny.
What the heck is that about? Don't get me wrong -- we all love looking at Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), dead or alive, so I'm conflicted about this craziness. But I think I'd rather have Izzie dreaming about him instead of his ghost stalking her and driving her insane.
You know, even in "Ghost," Demi Moore didn't get to make out with Patrick Swayze, but at the end of Grey's last night, Izzie and Denny were rounding first base and heading for second. HOW? I kept waiting for Alex to walk in on that, or for the camera to show us the scene from his perspective (like when he saw her talking to air at the hospital). Maybe that part was a dream?
So is this how Grey's gets rid of Katherine Heigl -- have her lose her mind? It was a stupid, stupid story line to start with. But... When DennyGhost looked at her and smiled and said "touch me," I was practically shouting, "Touch him already!! Touch him or I will!!"
Curious to see how they write themselves out of that one.
In other news...the interns have taken creepy to a whole new level, slicing themselves open so they can practice stitching themselves back up (I don't like Meredith's weird Morguey friend!). Looks like next week the interns actually operate on each other. Ridiculous.
Oh yeah, that GI Doc kissed Christina, although I wasn't sure at first if it was a kiss or a physical assault. And Mary McDonnell played a brilliant heart surgeon with Asperger's Syndrome (more realistically, I'm guessing, than Jerry on Boston Legal) who so far does NOT like Seattle Grace Hospital or the people there. We know some people who would agree with her...

Brooke Cain isn't always proud of the number of hours she logs in front of the TV, but her loss of brain cells can be your gain. From reality shows to sitcoms to the more serious stuff, Brooke keeps her DVR smoking so that she can help keep you in the know. Brooke also tweets for Happiness is a Warm TV (you can follow

Jumped the shark!
Mon, 11/17/2008 - 10:54 — lucrei52I am done. Done, I tell you! What with the physical ghost of Denny, intern cutting fest and the crazy army doc. I am finished with this show! I'll miss it tho.
I know...
Mon, 11/17/2008 - 11:55 — brookecain (author)I know, it's getting pretty stupid. But I have to say I will probably keep watching as long as Patrick Dempsey is on there.
I think they are going to work it out so that it's not really supposed to be The Ghost of Denny there with Izzie, I think Izzie has gone insane and that's how they will write her off the show.
I agree
Fri, 11/14/2008 - 17:13 — SherryMcLet's get rid of the ghost. I've heard that Izzie was upset her story line wasn't good enough last year for award entries, so maybe this is what they came up with for that.
Of course, I was expecting Alex to walk in as well.
Weird way for Haan to exit and Callie seems sad, but has McSteamy to watch her back.
New friend of Mer's, who is an old friend, will likely make waves between her and Christina and Derek! Just when you thought they could be happy. Seems strange enough to see Christina come in and jump in bed with both of them and he leaves because he's interrupting - what is that about?
I agree that the Asperger's doc was realistic. Don't care for the GI doc.
Give Denny his own show
Sat, 11/15/2008 - 14:23 — brookecain (author)They should get rid of the ghost and SOMEONE should give Jeffrey Dean Morgan his own show. That would solve all the issues.
I seriously don't like Meredith's old friend.
Am I wrong or does this show already have way too many characters to keep track of? Why do they keep adding more characters? Why not just give some of that screen time to Bailey or chief, who are both underused?
