Now that he's been eliminated from 'American Idol," Anoop Desai has found his true love, and it isn't folklore studies.
In a conference call yesterday, reports say, when asked whether he was returning to UNC-CH for his post-graduate work, Anoop said this:
"I am definitely going to pursue a music career. Singing is what I am the happiest doing. It's what I do the best.
"I want to go the pop and R&B round...I am looking forward to making that album," he said, adding he was a fan of American singer-songwriter Ne-Yo.
Anoop also talked about how hard it was to not be on Franklin Street when the Tar Heels won the NCAA championships. "I can't wait to come back to do some celebrating. I love North Carolina. I like to think of it as my natural habitat.
"I want to sit on my couch, wake up at noon, and get a sunrise biscuit."
Of course, as a member of the Top 10, Anoop's first stint will be the summer American Idol tour.

Assistant Features Editor Adrienne Johnson Martin would like to have her life turned into an animated cartoon.
