Who exactly is watching Knight Rider? I want to know right now. Pushing Daisies is on at 8pm, and so is New Adventures of Old Christine. Heck, so is Grizzly Man Diaries. And MonsterQuest. I don't even know what those last two shows are but I bet they are better than Knight Rider. So who is watching this show to cause it to get better ratings than our beloved Daisies? It's 12-year-old boys, right? Stop the madness, folks. Watch Pushing Daisies at 8pm, ABC. If perfection isn't your cup of tea, Christine on CBS is a darn funny substitute. Or any of those other shows I mentioned. Seriously. Anything.
And while we're talking ratings help, let's all watch Dirty Sexy Money at 10pm, ABC. Dan Rather moderates Patrick's senatorial debate, and there's a "shocking" witness at Letitia's murder trial. I watch mostly for Donald Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh, who are outstanding.
We also recommend Chocolate News at 10:30pm on Comedy Central.

Love "Daisies"
Fri, 10/24/2008 - 17:38 — Grommit (not verified)Brooke:
PLEASE keep "pushing" for people to watch Daisies (sorry about the woeful attempt at humor!). My daughter and I love the show! We were in Los Angeles last week and had a chance to take in the Warner Brothers studio tour (the 5 hour version). We were able to see several PD shooting locations (the pond where the clown car crashed, the exterior of the morgue, the exterior of Cod's office). We took lots of pictures. Let me know if you want to see any of them!
The WB museum had several outfits from the show and a pie box on display. We were not allowed to take pictures in the museum. We saw Lee Pace coming out of his trailer but our cameras were locked away then, too. He is tall! Our guide said he was shy and very much like his character. Our guide has also met Kristen Chenoweth and she said she was a genuinely nice person. She's short (4'11") and she travels around the lot on a pink girl's bike. We went by her trailer and saw the bike but didn't see her.
Thanks again for mentioning one of the best shows out there. We miss Danny but love the new blog.
Love your work and your writing!
Steve
Daisies
Wed, 10/29/2008 - 19:52 — brookecain (author)Hi - I just saw this post. I'm not sure if you're checking back in, but if you do, I'd love to see some pictures. If you have some up on a public site, like Flickr, we can even post a link from Happiness. bcain@newsobserver.com
I'm watching Pushing Daisies right now as I type this!
My favorite moment of the show, ever, was when Kristen Chenoweth sang "Hopelessly Devoted" in the empty Pie Shop (except for Digby).
Here's a link if you want to relive the magic...

Pushing Daisies is a great show!
Wed, 10/22/2008 - 18:33 — UNCAlumnusI like the tension between the characters, and also the quircky Olive. Dirty, Sexy Money is a show my wife watches and loves, while I pretend not to watch it while on the computer. As for the "honest attorney", well when he takes over that Darling Dynasty....he'll get his temptations, I'm sure. Also, who killed his daddy?....DVR is one of man's finest inventions, esp. for college basketball when your wife insists on going out or to her parents house for a visit (you must join her or face consequences)
on Dirty Sexy Money
Wed, 10/22/2008 - 13:25 — brookecain (author)GGillen - I agree about Krause's character. I wonder if they are going for his complete ruination there, to show how easily a good person can be corrupted by money. But it's not just money, I don't think. As much as he looks down on the Darlings, I think he's still working out some childhood issues and really wants their acceptance and approval.
Dirty Sexy Money...
Wed, 10/22/2008 - 11:34 — GGillenIs a fun show with an excellent cast. However, I don't know how long they can exploit the premise of an upright attorney constantly being tempted by the money/fame/power that his employers have. The Darlings have crossed the line several times and at some point Peter Krause's character is better off walking away.
Oh, it's bad
Wed, 10/22/2008 - 10:28 — jpurdyYeah, agreed -- it's bad. I watched the pilot when it came out a few months ago and then the first episode a few weeks ago and it really had my questioning my childhood: was the old Knight Rider better, were my tastes immature or both?
Either way, it's bad and I canceled my DVR subscription.
If the series end up canceled, you gotta think Ford won't be pleased with what's sure to be a lot of money paid for the product placement.
It's Also 40 year old gay men
Wed, 10/22/2008 - 10:05 — coughlin_jakeYou're right. The writing is terrible! But anything's plausible when beautiful people are doing it, and THIS Michael Knight is gorgeous!
This cracked me up!
Wed, 10/22/2008 - 18:48 — brookecain (author)You make a great point about beautiful people making bad shows more palatable. I think you just explained the popularity of Baywatch (speaking of "The Hoff").
