What to Watch on Wednesday: Delicious southern treats

Bookmark and Share

42nd Annual CMA Awards (8pm, CBS) - Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood host.

Ruby (9pm, E!) - A sympathetic new docu-series about a woman from Savannah who weighs nearly 500 pounds, and her efforts to lose weight.

Deep Fried Paradise (9pm, TRAVEL) - I'm thinking this could be a reality show about the North Carolina State Fair.

Real Housewives of Atlanta (10pm, OXYGEN) - It's on Bravo too, but this is the Oxygen rerun -- the tablescraps we get from Time Warner Cable. Tonight NeNe finds out if Curtis is really her daddy. Expect drama.

I finally saw Ruby

I missed it on Wednesday, but caught a rerun last night. I really enjoyed it for several reasons, the first being Ruby's personality. She's not a whiny, "woe is me," type. She's got sass and smarts, and seems to understand what it's going to take to lose the weight. I also like that she's not going for the "quick fix" with surgery. It'll be interesting to see just how difficult the process of losing weight is, doing it through diet and exercise. I'm also interested to see what she finds out during her therapy sessions. There seems to be some childhood trauma that she's completely blocked out, that she and her therapist suspect could be part of the reason for her obesity.

Now I just have to remember to set my DVR so I can find all this stuff out!

I believe the awards show..

is on ABC. I only know this because it's bumping Pushing Daisies (and my two girls are sad).

you're right

I saw that late yesterday evening and corrected it, but the damage was done!

I missed Pushing Daisies too. I would MUCH rather have had that on!

Ruby

Check back in and let us know how it is. NYT said it looked pretty good, but I doubt I'm able to watch it. She's supposed to have a really great personality.

Ruby

I'm kind of excited about this show. I always love watching the episodes of "True Life" on MTV about obese people. It's just fascinating and sad, to see what a struggle simple, everyday life is for them. Should be interesting.
