What to Watch on Tuesday: A new drama for the CW, a new season for 'Body of Proof'

NCIS (8pm, CBS) - NCIS director Vance, while still mourning his wife's death, discovers devastating personal information that causes him to question most everything in his life.

Cult (9pm, CW) - The dark underworld of a popular TV show is explored in the opener of this new series following a journalist (Matt Davis) who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his brother. Adrienne reviews it.

After Newtown: Guns in America (9pm, UNC-TV) - A history of guns in America, beginning with the first European settlements in the New World. Also, the political battles that have erupted over gun-control initiatives, and the competing visions of national identity that guns and gun control represent.

College Basketball: UNC at Georgia Tech (9pm, WRAL) - You can watch the game here, but if you want to see the new episodes of "NCIS: Los Angeles" or "Vegas," you'll have to set your recorder for overnight.

The Mindy Project (9:30pm, Fox) - Mindy is offered a chance to deliver a medical report on the local TV news, and gets advice for appearing on camera from an unlikely source.

Body of Proof (10pm, ABC) - In the Season 3 premiere, it's months after Peter's death and Megan returns to work only to learn she's been teamed up with a detective with whom she has a past history. She, Det. Sullivan and his rookie partner are up against a serial killer who targets young war veterans. The personal stakes become higher after she gets a call from the killer and is told he's holding her teenage daughter. This is part one of a two-part story.

Justified (10pm, FX) - An old enemy causes trouble for Raylan.

Smash (10pm, NBC) - Tom and Julia must work with an unwanted collaborator. Meanwhile, Derek tries to win over Ronnie and an old pal helps Ivy move forward.
