What to Watch on Thursday: A different 'Community' returns on NBC

Bookmark and Share

The Vampire Diaries (8pm, CW) - Shane leads an expedition to a mysterious island near Nova Scotia, where he believes he can locate a cure. Back in Mystic Falls, Tyler confronts Klaus, which leads to violence that involves Caroline.

Community (8pm, NBC) - It's the beginning of the fourth (and possibly final) season of "Community," and it's our first look at the show since the firing last year of its creator and showrunner Dan Harmon. What will "Community" be like without Harmon's unique perspective? It can't help but be a little different, but we're hoping for the best. In other news, Chevy Chase will be written out of the series later this season (that's a good thing). In tonight's "Hunger Games"-inspired premiere, the gang begin their fourth year of college and Jeff focuses on the credits he needs to graduate, while Britta helps Abed cope with his anxiety about the group parting ways after graduation.

College Basketball: NCSU at Duke (9pm, WRAL) - This means you won't get the new episodes of "Person of Interest" and "Elementary" during primetime tonight. Instead, set your DVR overnight for "Person of Interest" at 2 a.m. on WRAL and "Elementary" at 3 a.m.

Project Runway (9pm, Lifetime) - The contestants are asked to design garments for host Heidi Klum for the launch of her new fragrance line (didn't the show just promote her terrible-looking children's clothing line last season?). Guest judge is Kristin Davis.

Glee (9pm, Fox) - Finn encourages the glee club members to channel their inner divas, while Rachel's arrogance causes Kurt to reach a breaking point.

Scandal (10pm, ABC) - I can't get enough of this show! And I can't wait to find out what happens to Hollis in that elevator. Tonight, David's uncovering of the truth about the Cytron case makes things tough for Olivia, Mellie, Cyrus, Hollis and Verna, and the desperate conspirators pull out all the stops to protect themselves and their loved ones.
