What to Watch on Sunday: Scary, weird, and Mad

Bookmark and Share

Gangland (HIST) - The History Channel docu-series that looks at the most violent and most influential criminal gangs of our time has a marathon today from 1pm-7pm. Scary stuff.

My Fake Baby (8pm, BBC America) - I don't know quite what to make of this. BBC has a documentary about women who collect and care for "shockingly lifelike baby dolls" called "Re-Borns." The realistic dolls have "beating hearts," and the women treat them just like living babies. I just realized the whole time I have been typing this, my face has been scrunched up. If you want to feel "normal" tonight, tune in to this.

Nature (8pm, PBS) - Nature opens its 26th season with an episode called "White Falcon, White Wolf."

Frontline (10pm,  PBS) - Also premiering tonight is the new season of Frontline, with "The Choice: 2008." Profiles of McCain and Obama.

Hamm

Mad Men (10pm, AMC) - Season two's finale promises to be amazing (unlike SNL's Mad Men spoof last night). This has been a fantastic season, and tonight's show could wrap up a few loose ends. Or maybe not. All we know is Sterling Cooper is being sold, Don is still AWOL, and Betty gets some unsettling news. This is the best show on television. If you've missed it, catch up on DVD before Season 3 begins.

True Blood on HBO at 9 pm

is fantastic. I don't know if that is eligible fore reporting, but it is just awesome. I actually look forward to it coming on each week. The only other thing I look for like that is Butch Davis call in on Wed. night.

True Blood

So jealous - I want to watch that! Sadly, I do not have HBO or Showtime and the N&O isn't really all that into paying for it. But thanks for the reminder. Is that a Sunday night show? I also used to love Dexter and Weeds (SHO) but now that I don't get those channels, I've lost track of which episodes are new and which are repeats.

Yes, it comes on at 9 pm on Sunday.

Dexter, too, has started a new season. He is proposing marriage to his girlfriend. She is pregnant. He is also somehow tangle up with the DA of the county.

I used to watch Weeds, but have lost out on it. I do not know if it is still on.

True Blood is just an odd, intrigueing, strange show about a strange circumstance where humans and vampire coexist in a tense southern Louisiana town. Vampires are polliticing for legal rights, and blood is marketed in bottles just like beer or soda. There is a subculture of vampires that still like the "real thing", and they propel the show with the humans who live on the fringe of the human-vampire world. It's just riveting.

When there's all these choices...

Why am I watching Fields of Glory?
