Big Brother 11 (8pm, CBS) - Apparently this show is on about every other night. Tonight, the house's first nomination for eviction is announced. Will it be our local girl, Jordan Lloyd?
Drop Dead Diva (9pm, Lifetime) - A new series from Lifetime that puts a girly twist on the Warren Beatty film "Heaven Can Wait," except with dead models and lawyers. Read Adrienne's "Drop Dead Diva" review. It sounds great. Margaret Cho stars.
Meteor (9pm, NBC) - A scientist, played by Christopher Lloyd, discovers that a meteor named Kassandra is on a collision course with the earth, while smaller meteor showers ahead of Kassandra create havoc in American cities. Stacy Keach also stars. First part of a two-part series.
Entourage (10:30, HBO) - The 6th season premiere finds the gang back on top again, with Vince awaiting the premiere of his prestigious new "Gatsby" film, which was directed by none other than Martin Scorsese. What's the same? Eric is still pining over Sloane, and Drama is still working hard to maintain his D-list career. What's different? Turtle is actually dating a hot starlet (Jamie-Lynn Sigler as herself) who is really into him, and Lloyd, hoping to advance his career, gives Ari an ultimatum. Gary Cole is back as Ari's business partner.

Times are tough, so dump the HBO
Sun, 07/12/2009 - 18:04 — JustWonderingYou're recommending HBO? Wait a minute, now. The N&O says that money is so tight that it can't afford to keep printing weather information and TV listings, but people are supposed to have money to spend on HBO. Go figure.
Huh?
Sun, 07/12/2009 - 20:54 — brookecain (author)Hmmm. I'm not sure I get the connection between me recommending a TV show on HBO, and the N&O cutting back on publishing expenses. I can assure you the N&O isn't paying for HBO, but that doesn't mean our readers can't, or that we tell our readers how to spend their money.
"Entourage" is a good show, and if our readers are fortunate enough to have HBO, they should consider watching it. And if they have Showtime, they really ought to be watching "Weeds" because that show is awesome. If I had to choose between HBO and Showtime, I think I'd choose Showtime. But that's just me (and for the record, I don't have either).
You're right. As a TV
Sun, 07/12/2009 - 21:37 — JustWonderingYou're right. As a TV reviewer you should review programs from all sources, regardless of the cost of the programming or the differences in the ways that the networks are promoted and regulated. It is up to us as viewers to consider all factors when deciding which media to spend money on. Your reviews do help us decide whether the programs themselves are good.
