There are two big TV events tonight -- 24: Redemption (8pm, FOX) and A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All (10pm, COMEDY CENTRAL).
We're big on both Colbert and 24, but I think I'm personally most excited to see if Christmas can get the much needed Colbert Bump, because you know, Christmas doesn't get enough publicity. This effort to fight back against The War on Christmas has everything you would expect from a Colbert Christmas show -- singing, dancing, political satire, and a bear attack.
The music is original and clever, so don't expect the old Bing Crosby Christmas standards. Willie Nelson sings a song about marijuana and Toby Keith sings about Santa dropping nukes from his sleigh. Other guests include John Legend, Jon Stewart, Elvis Costello, and Feist.
Wired has a review, but the second part of the review does contain some spoilers, if that matters to you in a Christmas special.
Comedy Central will release a DVD and a digital album (on iTunes) next week, and proceeds go to charity.
As for the adrenaline-pumping Jack Bauer action on FOX at 8pm, read the Happiness review of the 24 prequel movie. If you're into 24 at all, you can't miss this one, but you'll have to wait till January for the actual series to begin. In the meantime, you can watch some behind the scenes clips of filming in Africa at the FOX site.

Brooke Cain isn't always proud of the number of hours she logs in front of the TV, but her loss of brain cells can be your gain. From reality shows to sitcoms to the more serious stuff, Brooke keeps her DVR smoking so that she can help keep you in the know. Brooke also tweets for Happiness is a Warm TV (you can follow
