What to Watch on Monday: Kevin Bacon directs "The Closer"

Bookmark and Share

The Closer (9pm, TNT) - There's a female mutant ninja murderer on the loose, and a detective visits from El Paso to assist Brenda and the gang with the investigation. Also, Brenda's father arrives to escort Charlie (Sosie Bacon) home to Atlanta. The episode is directed by Kevin Bacon. No degrees of separation.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent (9pm, NBC) - Goldblum up! To solve a murder, Nichols and Wheeler dive into the dangerous world of one of the most violent, terrifying groups in our society: Poets.

Hoarders (10pm, A&E) - This show is so hard to watch. But so unbelievably fascinating. Not sure if they can top last week's woman from Milwaukee who hoarded rotten food.

The Rachel Zoe Project (10pm, Bravo) - The second season of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe's reality show begins in grand fashion, as Zoe and her bratty desk-obsessed assistants (Jeff Lewis would so fire them) are charged with dressing Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Demi Moore, Eva Mendes, and Debra Messing for the Golden Globes. Glitch! Turns out the bad economy gets in the way of rich movie stars acquiring the most haute of haute couture gowns. Boo. Hoo.

Anti-hoarder

DVR-ed the show last night so I'm excited to watch it tonight.

I am an anti-hoarder. If I haven't touched something within the past month or so, it gets recycled, good-willed or thrown out. It drives my partner nuts because we'll have to re-purchase things that we only use occasionally. The latest: pressure cooker thing so he could can pickled ocre. YECH!

okra

Cracking up. Assume your misspelling of delicious okra is intentional. I actually like to call it "okrie." I love it in all forms, from boiled and slimy to fried crispy to pickled. Refine your palate!
I really love the minimalist (Jeff Lewis) look, it's just difficult for me to implement that in a livable space. I commend you for being so disciplined.

Hoarders

I am still haunted by that woman's house! When she pulled the seeds out of the rotten pumpkin? *shudder*

And yet, I too am fascinated. I've always been fascinated by hoarders and hoarding. It's just unbelievable to think people actually live like that, and it makes you wonder if you've got people in your own neighborhood living that way. You just never know.

Hoarders

I had never even heard of "hoarding" till I saw it on Oprah a couple years ago. It is fascinating, but I didn't feel like the people on the A&E show got the emotional counseling that the people got on Oprah. Watching Oprah, I felt like those people were going to stick with the new program (they revisted some of them once and they had!) but with A&E, I had absolutely no confidence that the people would ever get any better.

That family w/ the 3 kids and the husband who was okay with letting go of his fish tanks but didn't want them in the garbage -- I could actually relate to that. I was frustrated that they didn't give them a "donate" option (which the "Clean Sweep" dude on Oprah did) because if you know your stuff is going to go to someone else who needs it and not just in a landfill, it's a lot easier to let it go, right?
