House (8pm, Fox) - Remember that nursing home cat who used to curl up next to people when they were about to die? Well, that cat (actually, an actor cat playing that cat) is on House tonight.
How I Met Your Mother (8:30pm, CBS) - Lilly tries to sabotage Ted's relationship with the heiress to the Massgenill fortune.
Castle (10pm, ABC) - One of my favorite things in the world: a funny cop show. Nathan Fillion (right) is great as crime novelist Rick Castle, who tags along with a homicide detective (Stana Katic) who's the muse for his latest book. Susan Sullivan is very funny as Castle's colorful mother, plus last week's premiere had cameos from crime writers James Patterson and Stephen J. Cannell. If you missed it, you can watch it here.

Mon, 03/16/2009 - 19:29 — UNC1998Have you fille out your bracket yet? Big Love on Sunday was a very good episode. They showed some secret Mormon thing, and the family is breaking up. Big stuff.

Tue, 03/17/2009 - 10:58 — brookecain (author)Yes, I'm working on my bracket now. I have UNC losing to Radford. Is that what you have too? ;-)
Um.....
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 18:55 — UNC1998No! I would think you to be an ACC fan at this point. That is since your team is not even in the field. I actually don't think UNC will have any problems until the elite eight. They will survive to the final four, and perhaps beyond.
As for TV, any word on what happened to the Pushing Daisies wrap up? Also, Do you have sattelite? I'd like to hear from someone who has it what it's about vs. TWC
Pushing Daisies
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 19:16 — brookecain (author)Maybe we can see Daisies in the Summer? Cross your fingers!!! Check THIS out.
And I was just teasing you about UNC... Good luck to your boys.

Mon, 03/16/2009 - 16:21 — coughlin_jakeawww... this is all fantasy anyway (ESPECIALLY that teenage daughter)! i think a level-headed, sexy woman would counter-balance him very nicely. perhaps a "Rene Russo" from "Thomas Crown Affair"... i'm thinking boyish charm balanced by adult woman. (and the scene i remember best is when she handcuffed him to the car... :-)
see, now i'm thinking that that's the role the daughter plays (minus the sex dynamic, cause that's gross), but the dad-daughter dynamic is definitely based on role-reversal. in fact, his entire family runs backwards in terms of maturity.
Castle
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 13:05 — coughlin_jakeWe thought the first episode was pretty formulaic but seems to have promise as the writers develop.
However, I wish the homicide detective would play her character more Sex-In-The-City-Samantha-ish than ugh-you-are-such-a-sexist-who-offends-me. I read an interesting article in our paper a few months ago about how the red-head character on "Mad Men" owns and uses her sexuality, that it's a source of power she knows how to wield. THAT would make THIS show FANTASTIC! As it is, I found their chemistry so far to be nauseating and cliche.

Mon, 03/16/2009 - 14:57 — brookecain (author)I would guess that'd be a lot harder for a female Cop to realistically pull off. That's still sort of a "boys club" so she can't play the sex kitten card if she wants to be taken seriously there. She's "tough" on the outside because a woman cop has to be, but humanized in that she's not afraid to reveal she's a fan of the cheesy crime writer.
THere were several parts of the show that I thought were very, very funny. But none of them involved the guy and girl and their chemistry. I liked his banter with his daughter, who is smart and funny and not full of teen angst (yawn); I liked his mother a lot; and I thought overall, he was very charming. When he punched that guy out and immediately started screaming "please tell me you saw that! You're putting that in your report, right?!" I was laughing out loud. I love that he's not some macho tough guy -- he was as shocked as anyone that he knocked that guy out.
