What to Watch on Monday: 'Bachelor Pad' duds and real-life heroes

Bookmark and Share

Bachelor Pad (8pm, ABC) - In this three-hour (THREE HOURS!?) Season 2 premiere, 18 onetime "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants move into a Malibu mansion and act like total jackasses while they vie for a cash prize and of course, a chance at love. 2010 "Bachelor" couple Jake Pavelka and his estranged former fiance Vienna Girardi will be in the house.

Basketball Wives (8pm, VH1) - In the third season finale, Chad and Evelyn clash when she spots him lunching with another woman. Meanwhile, Jen throws a wild divorce party.

Single Ladies (9pm, VH1) - April goes through some ups and downs and Keisha gets dragged into Malcolm's past in the first season finale.

The Closer (9pm, TNT) - The team snoop into the death of a minister, but their investigation is jeopardized by the victim's own shady secrets and the family's efforts to protect his name and their church. Also, all but one member of the unit receive a subpoena in the department's civil suit.

Superheroes (9pm, HBO) - You'll find plenty of comic book heroes on the movie screen this summer, but you won't see any like these. This award-winning documentary is about some everyday folks who dedicate their lives to being "real life superheroes" -- complete with superhero names, costumes, backstories, the whole deal. At first glance, many of these people may seem downright nuts, but as the film goes on, director Michael Barnett shows there's more to this lifestyle than a bunch of nerds running around playing dress-up. There's a lot of heart and soul in this film. It respectfully shows the true dedication of the superheroes, who in many cases are more effective at fighting apathy and helping the downtrodden than fighting actual crime. There are so many compelling characters in Barnett's film, but I promise you will never forget Mr. Xtreme or Master Legend (whose super power appears to be his raging thirst). Or Zimmer, who has the very useful power of being a trained EMT. "Superheroes" screened at San Diego Comic-Con this year. If you have HBO, check it out.

Teen Wolf (10pm, MTV) - In the first season's penultimate episode, Scott struggles to protect both his friends and enemies while also keeping his secret safe from Allison.

Alphas (10pm, Syfy) - Rachel goes on a first date that ends with a powerful kiss, and Rosen's team officially joins the Defense Criminal Investigation Service and their first case is to probe a series of deaths linked to high school in Pennsylvania.

The Big C (10:30pm, Showtime) - Lee takes Cathy to a Tibetan doctor to help lower her blood pressure for the clinical trial. Also, a jealous Paul goes to a bar with Lee and Cathy, and a grounded and bore Adam interferes with Andrea's date with Myk.
