What to Watch on Friday: Music, science, and rehab

Bookmark and Share

Tonight you could watch some live music for a good cause, watch some messed up celebrities start rehab, and see how you make cuckoo clocks...

A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE (8pm, MTV) - A musical event to mobilize support for a Bill of Rights for American Veterans (BRAVE). Learn more about the cause here at MTV. Look for performances by Ludacris, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Kid Rock, Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, and others.

Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew 2 (8:30pm, VH1) - This is the second season of the controversial reality show/documentary which follows a handful of dependent celebrities through rehab. It's sometimes exploitative, often sad, and oddly compelling. Celebs this season include Gary Busey (watch a clip of him checking in here) and Steven Adler (former Guns N Roses drummer, clip here), who promises to be this season's Jeff Conway. Nikki McKibbin is seaon 2's obligatory American Idol star.

How it's Made (8pm, SCI) - A reader recommends this show on the Science Channel (channel 111 in the Triangle). Tonight there are back-to-back episodes from 8pm to 11pm. Learn how they make hot rods, baseballs, cuckoo clocks, windshield wipers, and a bunch of other stuff.

Life (10pm, NBC) - Another pitch for our favorite Zen cop played by Damian Lewis (from Band of Brothers). This week, Det. Crews tracks an escaped killer after an earthquake hits LA.

Did anyone watch How It's Made?

did you like it?

I'm afraid I'll be working...

but I invite you all to check out How It's made. They are one-half hour shows. I'll admit that I'm a little nerdy, but I really think they're neat. If only TWC would get Science Channel HD.
