Vern Yip and HGTV size up more Raleigh kitchens

Bookmark and Share

HGTV brought Vern Yip to town recently to evaluate snazzy kitchen remodels for their "Bang For Your Buck" series. One of the shows featuring homes from Raleigh and Cary already aired back in February, and another is airing this Friday night.

For each show, an HGTV designer and a local realtor take a look at three remodels and determine which home got the most bang for their buck as far as improving the overall resale value of the property. The designer and the realtor tour and evaluate the remodel without the homeowners present. The homeowners later watch a video of the tour and either bask in the compliments or engage in a one-way quarrel with the designer through the monitor.

In Friday's episode, Yip and Cary realtor CaraLynn Telford look at a transitional kitchen with a free-form bar, a transitional kitchen with an in-ceiling surround sound system, and a contemporary kitchen with a granite slab backsplash. One of the kitchens (shown below) belongs to Cameron Meek of Raleigh (her remodel work was done by GR Wooten Construction). Meek, who has a design business in Raleigh called Homeworks, is pictured above with Yip (she's on the right) and fellow designer Anne Sigmon.

Yip has starred in several other home decorating shows, such as "Trading Spaces," "Design Star," and "Deserving Design." He has also appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

"Bang For Your Buck" airs on HGTV on Friday night at 9:30pm.
