Happiness is a warm TV

UPDATE: BET & MTV's Centric plans

Bookmark and Share

Multichannel News reports that Centric will launch with 45 million subscribers, and BET will handle the operations.

BET J, apparently, will be "refreshed."

Centric will feature entertainment and reality shows, but execs said, could broaden to include some news and public affairs programming.

Some of the original shows already slated include 'Model City,' a reality show about African-American models in New York; and 'Keeping Up With the Joneses,' about the adventures of a Houston-based female entrepreneur.

My commentary: Yawn.

Centric will also bring back the Soul Train Music Awards, which has been off the air for a while, and use age-appropriate content from MTV, VH1, BET and other MTV Network outlets.

BTW, besides TV One and Bob Johnson's effort, Master P is trying to put together Better Black Television, a family-friendly network with positive content; and former Oklahoma rep J.C. Watts announced the creation of Black Television News Channel, a 24-hour new service that is supposed to launch sometime this year.
