The North Carolina School of the Arts has announced that three of their alumni were included in Emmy nominations announced yesterday.

-Zach Seivers (2006) received a nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming for his role as sound designer on "Gettysburg," which aired on the History Channel. UNCSA says other UNCSA alumni worked on "Gettysburg," which received a total of seven nominations. Seivers is originally from Mt. Airy.

-Tom Beck (1973) is nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Special for his role as lighting director on "Lady GaGa Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden." That special aired on HBO. Beck, originally from Winston-Salem, is the son of retired UNCSA voice faculty member Bill Beck. This is Tom Beck’s fourth Emmy nomination.

-Christal Schanes (2003) was nominated for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special for the "Saturday Night Live" episode with guest host Anne Hathaway. Schanes also has been nominated before.

In addition, UNCSA says alumnus Matt Cowart (2004) was co-producer and assistant director to Lonny Price, who is nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special for "Sondheim! The Birthday Concert" (PBS).
