Sometimes when see I see celebrities shilling themselves just to keep the income flowing, I wonder why don't they just get a job. You know, do like the rest of us, head to the local community college and learn a trade.
Apparently 90s rapper Vanilla Ice had the same thought. Between "Ice Ice Baby" gigs, he flips homes, using his knowledge of landscaping and remodeling. And it seems he's quite successful.
That brings us to "The Vanilla Ice Project" (DIY network, 9 tonight), which shows the man born Rob Van Winkle and his tattooed crew renovating a 7,000-square-foot Palm Beach mansion.
Each episode of the seven-part series takes you through a renovation of a different room or area of the home, which has been stripped and left abandoned for a few years.
I have to admit, Mr. Ice comes across as very knowledgeable. In the landscaping episode, he gives some good information about the types and life spans of palm trees. Along the way, he gives helpful tips that you can apply to your own smaller scale renovation. He's comfortable in front of the camera too. He talks about his love for his work and it shows.
Plus he does it all wearing a 'Pimps and Hos' t-shirt. OK, OK, you can listen to it here.
