The Law & Order franchise has spawned many a spinoff -- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Trial by Jury (rest in peace, old friend).

Now, the quintessential American crime drama is taking a trip across the pond, delivering some 'ripped from the headlines' justice to jolly old England. Law & Order: U.K. debuted in Great Britain in February to solid ratings and generally positive reviews.
We're accustomed to America remaking successful British TV shows (The Office, Life on Mars, American Idol, etc), but Law & Order is the first American drama to be retooled for a British audience. The American version of Law & Order already reruns in the U.K..
The British show is the same, but different.
"They are fraternal, not identical twins," says L&O Godfather, Dick Wolf. The new show has the same general format and the same trademark "ch-chung" sound between scenes, but the pacing is slower.
I would love to see this show, but right now we don't have access to it on BBC America. Perhaps down the road. Dick Wolf is working on that.
