Happiness is a warm TV

The Bachelor: Jason mocked by Jimmy Kimmel & Regis

Bookmark and Share

Last night after the first After the Final Rose show, Jason Mesnick appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to try to convince America that he's not a total jerk.

We learned a few interesting things. First, Jason says that Melissa knew before they went on the show that they were not "together" -- in fact, he says they even discussed whether or not she was going to wear her ring since they were no longer "together." He said she was not blindsided, and that they all -- including Melissa -- had agreed contractually that all of that had to play out on television, for better or worse. He said he'd told her over the phone (since they couldn't visit each other in the weeks just before the show) that it was over, but they had to do it again "officially" face-to-face for the cameras.

He also said when he first appeared on Kimmel's show, right around the time of the premiere, that he was with Melissa and engaged. I'm still working that timeline out in my head (the proposal was just before Thanksgiving, they spent the holidays together and that's when it all went south, yet the show didn't premiere till early January...).

Jason had only nice things to say about Melissa, and said that one day they will be friends. Kimmel laughed and said, "Oh no you will not! You and Melissa and Israel and Iraq..." Jason wasn't amused. "Let's just agree to disagree." "Don't even think about that," Kimmel told him.

On Jason's heartbreak (and tears) Kimmel pointed out, "Flavor Flav does this every year and he's heartbroken, but then he goes and puts on a crown and does it again." Kimmel suggested Jason seek advice from Flav, and that perhaps even Melissa might want to meet Flav. If that's what makes her happy, Jason offered.

Jason assured Kimmel that Ty is just fine. He said Ty was more impressed with meeting all the camera men and members of the production crew than with meeting the two women during filming. Meeting Molly and Melissa were not a big deal for him, so he's not traumatized that Melissa, the Queen of the Knock-Knock Joke, is gone.

On the morning shows, The Bachelor was discussed by Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa on Live with Regis and Kelly. Regis watched the show and said he was thinking, "If this guy cries one more time, I'm gonna hit him! BE A MAN!" He made fun of Mesnick all during the show for his constant crying. He called him the "Crying Man." Kelly was disappointed that Molly got back together with Jason, saying that she should have made him "work for it a little bit."
