Showtime's "Weeds" coming to basic cable

Bookmark and Share

The critically acclaimed and hilariously offbeat Showtime hit "Weeds" is coming to the TV Guide Network starting in September.

"Weeds" is about a suburban mom (Mary-Louise Parker) who finds herself broke when her husband dies suddenly, and she can't support her children in the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed. She resorts to selling pot to her affluent neighbors (Kevin Nealon) but over time, her involvement in the drug trade escalates. Those escalations are alternately horrifying and hilarious.

The show is pretty profane at times, so it's likely to be heavily edited.

TV Guide Network is airing all episodes of the first five seasons. They made a similar deal last year to air episodes of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," another show that will have to be edited with a machete to make it on basic. Larry David's "Curb" is scheduled to premiere on TVGN in June. The network (channel 0 on Time Warner Cable) currently airs "Ugly Betty" repeats on Saturday nights at 7pm.

Hey N&O Lady!

My wife loves this show. Not as much as Mad Men of course but nothing is as wonderful as Mad Men.

For me .... Weeds has waaaay too much gratuitous profanity. Kinda like a Joe Biden interview.
