CBS is turning out to be a nice landing spot for North Carolina actresses lately. Just a few weeks ago, Kinston native Jaime Pressly signed on with "How I Met Your Mother" creators for a new unnamed CBS sitcom, and now Charlotte/Raleigh native Sharon Lawrence has been cast in a new Josh Schwartz sitcom pilot for the network called "Hitched."
"Hitched" will center around a newlywed couple, played by Kristin Kreuk and Jack Carpenter, and their family and friends. Lawrence will play the "well-meaning but nosy" mother of Kreuk's character.
Schwartz was the creator and executive producer of Fox's early-2000s teen soap, "The O.C.," and also developed The CW's "Gossip Girl." More importantly, he is the co-creator of NBC's awesome spy series, "Chuck."
Lawrence is best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Sylvia Sipowicz on the cop drama "NYPD Blue," but she can definitely handle comedy. She was great in an episode last season of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and she also recently played Chevy Chase's hooker in NBC's very funny "Community."
