The talk show rounds begin!
Scotty McCreery will be a guest tonight on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
UPDATED - There has been a scheduling change and "Idol" runner-up Lauren Alaina will be on "Leno" tonight without Scotty, but Scotty will hit the show soon. We'll keep you updated here as soon as "The Tonight Show" releases that info. Sorry for anyone who unnecessarily DVRs "Leno" -- we know how painful that can be. But you still get Lauren!
Scotty is also slated to appear on "Live with Regis & Kelly" on Tuesday, May 31. That show airs on WTVD at 9 a.m.
Next Thursday (June 2) Scotty and Lauren will both sing for the "Today" show Summer Concert Series. "Today" starts at 7 a.m. on NBC and goes until 11 a.m.
We'll post it here if we learn of any other appearances. I'm sure he'll be on the "Ellen" show at some point.

Teenagers now say I love you

If I thought my teenage son was dating all the girls that say I love you on his Facebook page, he would have some explaining to do. Obviously Scotty and Lauren are close, they are the only people their age that they have associated with for a long time. Lauren being coy about the question of is he your boyfriend is so typical of a 16 year old girl, us adults are not supposed to be reading into it. But, for some reason we want them to get together when a 17 year old boy is really not ready for something like that.

I think that's just a teenage girl (I speak as a former teenage girl). Scotty was asked about it again yesterday in a conference call to radio stations and he said all the smooching Wednesday night was "a joke" and that they are just friends. Here's that article.

As far as whether or not he's dating Lauren, who knows. I doubt it, but I obviously don't know. He has said no, and those around him say no. But Lauren is being coy. Reality shows are famous for starting these type rumors to generate more interest. They do it on Dancing with the Stars all the time, and it's usually bogus (or greatly exaggerated). We'll see...

He does have a good, solid support system, so that may sustain him. I hope he takes a daily vit.-min. supplement. The body is not a perpetual motion machine. He's a good example for other teen-agers. Did he kiss Lauren after the announcement that he'd won and his back was to the camera ? We heard, "Love you, babe" (which could have been generic) and "We've been together since the beginning, and we'll still be together", or words to that effect. I don't want to start a rumor, but they're two kindred spirits.
