"American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery is up for a coveted TCA Surfboard trophy in tonight's Teen Choice Awards, but it's not in the category his runner-up Lauren Alaina had hoped for.
Scotty is nominated for Breakout Artist in the music category, but Lauren tweeted last month that she hoped she and her "Idol" pal would be nominated for "best on-screen kiss."
Lauren is referring, of course, to the giant smooch she planted on Scotty when he won the "American Idol" crown back in May.
In his TCA category, Scotty is up against Adele, Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars, and winner of "The Voice," Javier Colon.
Even if he wins, Scotty is performing tonight in Detroit on the American Idol Tour, so he won't be present for the Los Angeles show.
Voting took place online and only teenagers were allowed to vote.
The "Teen Choice Awards" show will air tonight on Fox 50 at 8 p.m.
Scotty will also be performing (along with the American Idol Tour group) Friday morning for the "Good Morning America" Summer Concert Series in New York. GMA airs on WTVD at 7 a.m.
UPDATE: TCA did not announce the Breakout Artist in the music category on the show, so at this point, we're not really sure who won. Hopefully a full list of winners will be posted soon.
UPDATE: Bruno Mars won the Breakout Artist award.
