Scotty celebrates Christmas on TV this week

Bookmark and Share

Sad that you didn't get to celebrate the holidays with your favorite “American Idol” winner at Tuesday night’s Scotty McCreery concert at the DPAC?

Well, you’ll get a couple other chances to see him share the Christmas spirit on TV this week.

On Wednesday night, McCreery, the Garner native and N.C. State University freshman, will appear on NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” holiday special at 8. The show, featuring the lighting of the giant Christmas tree in New York City, also will include Mariah Carey, now an “Idol” judge, and Cee Lo Green of rival singing competition “The Voice.”

Then on Saturday, McCreery headlines his own special, “Christmas with Scotty McCreery and Friends” on the Great American Country cable network. The show, taped in Nashville, includes fellow country acts Gloriana, Jana Kramer and Brett Eldridge. McCreery will perform “Let It Snow,” “Christmas In Heaven” and “Santa Claus Is Back In Town” from his best-selling CD, “Christmas with Scotty McCreery.”

The show will air at 11 p.m. Saturday, with repeat performances at 3 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, 9 p.m. Tuesday  and 1 a.m.  Dec. 5. In the Triangle, the GAC channel is available on Time Warner Cable (channel 461), DirecTV (channel 326), Dish Network (channel 167), and AT&T U-Verse 529.
