Happiness is a warm TV

Raleigh woman gets a call from Regis Philbin

Bookmark and Share

Arden McFarlane of Raleigh got an early call this morning from Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, who offered her a chance to win a free trip to Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii. All she had to do was tell them Rainn Wilson's character's name on "The Office."

Even though I yelled "Dwight! Dwight!" at the TV, McFarlane tossed out a last second guess of "Ed." Unfortunately, she didn't get the trip, but she did get a $500 gift certificate to Crabtree & Evelyn instead. "I'm okay with that," McFarlane told Happiness is a Warm TV this morning.

McFarlane, a stay-at-home mom and school volunteer, entered the "Live with Regis and Kelly" Wake-up Call Travel Trivia contest online, and that's what earned her the call (you're supposed to send in a snapshot of what you look like first thing in the morning). She said she has entered their trivia contest several times, but this was her first call. "I actually did watch the Rainn Wilson episode, and I like him, but I'm not a particular fan of [The Office]," she told us.

Regis told McFarlane on the call that Raleigh is one of "Live's" biggest markets. "I was just down there last year, and I enjoyed the town very much," he said. When he got no response from McFarlane, Regis made light by quickly adding, "Okay, so anyway..." which drew laughter from the audience.

Listen to a short clip of McFarlane's exchange with Regis and Kelly.
