But $1,000 isn't bad either.
That's what Carrie Shuping, a freelance calligrapher from Raleigh, won on today's episode of "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire." The show, hosted by Meredith Vieira, is on WTVD at 12:30 p.m.
She made it to the $8,000 question in the "Le Office" category: Perhaps because of its curvaceous shape, a paper clip in France is called a what?
A. Violin
B. Clarinet
C. Trombone
D. Piano
I'll give you a second to guess....
Carrie picked A. Wrong. The correct answer is C.
So Ms. Shuping won a $1,000, and never got to use any of her four lifelines.
Too bad. Her Phone A Friends were her husband Alan, a general contractor; her father, Tate Lanning, a retired civil engineer, who lives in Raleigh; and her mom Michael Lanning, a homemaker.
Fun note: She got the call to be on the show on her 45th birthday.
Carrie graduated from Broughton in 1981, is married and has two daughters. So that grand is probably gone already! Actually Carrie said that the money will help pay off credit card debt; she'd also like to donate a bit to Habitat for Humanity, and maybe use some for her daughter's East Carolina University bills.

Assistant Features Editor Adrienne Johnson Martin would like to have her life turned into an animated cartoon.

(As a side note, Cash Cab kicks the crap out of any other game show)
