If you need help shopping for Christmas presents and you happen to have TV fans on your list, we're here to help!
The obvious gift choice for the TV addicts on your shopping list is a TV show on dvd. But which one?
Well, the N&O staff voted on the dvd sets they'd most like to get from Santa this year, and the overwhelming favorite was HBO's critically acclaimed crime series, "The Wire." We can't argue with that.
Second place was a three-way tie between "House," "Lost," and "Monk." Other shows getting multiple votes were "The Andy Griffith Show," "Dexter," "Glee," "NCIS," "The Office," "Seinfeld," and "West Wing."
You can scroll down to see the full list of all shows getting votes, some of them not even available on dvd, I'm sure. But we can dream, right?
Personally, I'm still waiting for some network genius to put "James at 15" on dvd.
What "How I Met Your Mother" fan doesn't crave the raw power of a Slap Bet Commissioner? I think this "Slap Bet Commissioner" t-shirt works pretty much the same as a badge, which means the wearer has total control over administration of all slaps. Just don't abuse it. There's a version available at the CBS store, but the one pictured here is from Cafepress.com.
Behold the Dharma Initiative lab coat. Good for chores around the house, showing off at parties (depending on what kind of parties your giftee attends), or cooking up confusing, diabolical plots with no immediate promise of closure. (There's also a Dharma jumpsuit in navy or khaki and Dharma Maglites!).
It's a teeny bit pricey, though. $64.95 at the ABC Store (that's the ABC network store, not the liquor store). And if you throw in a few seasons of "Lost" on dvd, you might come out of Christmas a real hero. A broke hero, but a hero nonetheless.
Is someone in your house an "NCIS" fan? It's the number one show in the country, so odds are the answer to that question is "yes." Help that fan look like Leroy Jethro and the gang with their very own official NCIS agent cap. You can get this from the CBS store.
These "Dexter" bloodslide coasters are the perfect gift for the strange person on your shopping list. "Dexter" fans will recognize the coasters as the good-guy-serial-killer's trophy collection. While you're at the Showtime shop, there's some cool stuff for "Weeds" fans too.
If the strange people on your list are more "vampirey" than "serial killery," may we suggest some Tru Blood drink for the HBO "True Blood" fans. These bottled drinks are designed to look just like the synthetic blood drinks enjoyed by Vampire Bill on the show. The flavor is "blood orange" and has a slightly tart taste. You can get different sizes and combinations, but the Ultimate Party Pack comes with 24 14-oz bottles, 8 Tru Blood logo pint glasses, and a Tru Blood bottle opener. On sale for only $169.99.
Or maybe you have a "Glee" fan on your list, but the poor devil can't sing or dance a lick. Then give them voice and/or dancing lessons! There are lots of local gleeks around who can have them spinning around the room singing "Don't Stop Believin'" in no time.
