News & Observer Executive Editor John Drescher (left) writes in his Editor's Blog that the paper has been effectively "fired" by WRAL from their joint weekly TV show, "Headline Saturday."
WRAL and The N&O joined forces in 2002 to put on the weekend news discussion program. It was hosted by David Crabtree and featured an N&O editor and reporter, along with two other guests.
The show will go on, but it will no longer be affiliated with the N&O. You can read all about WRAL's decision at Drescher's Editor Blog.
Brooke Cain isn't always proud of the number of hours she logs in front of the TV, but her loss of brain cells can be your gain. From reality shows to sitcoms to the more serious stuff, Brooke keeps her DVR smoking so that she can help keep you in the know.

John Drescher is a Mensch
Sat, 08/22/2009 - 07:06 — DebrahI can't believe that anyone would dismiss John.
Of course, this is an N&O-WRAL issue and has nothing to do with him.
When I did tune into the show, John was the only reason I did so and after the horrific performance of the N&O, and in particular, the N&O editorial staff during the Duke Lacrosse Hoax, John as the new editor and Joe Neff's terrific investigative reporting are the only reasons I keep renewing my subscription.
John is a fine fellow
Thu, 08/13/2009 - 14:02 — AgentPierceMy disdain for the N&O in general is a matter of record HOWEVER John Drescher is a "good guy".
My recommendation might do John more harm than good but I offer it any way.
David Crabtree OTOH is a foppish fool.
