"NCIS," "The Good Wife" preempted tonight. How to watch.

Bookmark and Share

The UNC vs. Boston College basketball game will preempt "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "The Good Wife" tonight on WRAL.

If you want to watch those shows, you'll need to set your recording device to catch them after the end of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," which usually ends around 1:35 a.m.

According to WRAL, "NCIS: Los Angeles" will air at approximately 1:37 a.m. (subject to ACC Basketball runover), and "The Good Wife" will air at approximately 2:37 a.m. (subject to ACC Basketball runover).

WRAL recommends setting your recording device to record from 1:30 a.m. - 4:30 a.m to make sure you get everything, even in the case of basketball runover.

WRAL's 11 p.m. newscast will air immediately following the game.

BY PRE-EMPTING ALL OF THE GOOD CBS SHOWS (NCIS, NCIS LA, THE GOOD WIFE, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI) FOR SEVERAL MONTHS EACH AND EVERY YEAR, THEN CLAIMING THAT THEY SHOW THEM LATER, WRAL ONLY CATERS TO THE RICH WHO CAN AFFORD A DVR.  WHAT ABOUT US POOR FOLKS WHO CAN'T AFFORD A DVR OR AN INTERNET CONNECTION AND HAVE TO GO TO WORK IN THE MORNING SO WE CAN'T STAY UP ALL NIGHT TO WATCH THESE SHOWS.  WRAL SHOULD GIVE UP ITS CBS AFFILIATION TO ANOTHER LOCAL STATION.  IT IS SIMPLY FALSE ADVERTISING TO CLAIM THAT THEY ARE A CBS AFFILIATE AND TO CLAIM THAT THEY DON'T REPRESENT ONLY THE RICH OF THE RALEIGH AREA.

The Good Wife...

... is SOOOOO good!

[Throwing gas on the fire. :-]

I find this obnoxious to the extreme.  WRAL has the ability to show these "preemted" shows on their 5.2 channel at their normal time but refuse to do it making life difficult for those of us who don't have DVR or On-Demand.  I can't stay up until 3am waiting to watch a show I love just because UNC has a basketball game.

No argument from me on how

No argument from me on how obnoxious this is.  However, there's another option: http://www.cbs.com .  You can watch the exact same content with fewer commercial interruptions, and depending on your computer, you may even be able to connect your computer to your TV.

Full episodes on CBS.com

CBS is usually the worst of the broadcast networks when it comes to making full episodes available online, so I'm happy to see they do have full episodes of "The Good Wife" available now. I'm hopeful that they're getting better with that.

No, you're right.  CBS is

No, you're right.  CBS is frustrating!

They've removed all of their content from Amazon Video on Demand, which is where I usually turn first for episodes that I've missed.

I just checked hulu.com, and they do offer The Good Wife, but the links take you to cbs.com rather than playing the episodes within hulu, and cbs.com only stocks the last 2 episodes at a time.  (I'm pretty sure that my household, which loves The Good Wife, has missed several of this season's episodes thanks to TWC's sh--ty DVR.)

I'll be hooking my laptop to our TV tonight so my partner can watch this episode.
